What can I expect in my first visit? Depending on your diagnosis, the initial visit will look different for each individual. One thing I want to stress is that you should NOT expect pain. I believe that working with patients in a pain-free manner allows for trust to be formed and this is the first step in taking a healing journey together. I do not believe it is necessary to cause pain in order to treat your pain! We will start by reviewing your medical history together, as well as your pain history. We will then gently examine different aspects of your body which may include assessing your back and pelvic bones, flexibility testing, postural and positioning assessment, internal pelvic floor assessment when appropriate, and muscle strength assessment which may include using ultrasound imaging. We will mutually review what was found in the assessment and develop a treatment plan based on your individual goals.
How long are appointments? All appointments are one hour in length. In order to get the full scope of your condition, it is important to have all your paperwork completed prior to your initial visit. It is recommended to arrive 15 to 20 minutes prior to your initial visit in order to fill out all of the paperwork. If you are unable to have paperwork filled out prior to your appointment time, or you arrive late, your treatment time may be shortened in order to fill out the paperwork.
Do you take insurance? In order to treat chronic pain conditions as well as conditions that effect the most intimate parts of our lives, I spend more time with patients. Treatment times are longer, and I spend more hands-on time with patients. This allows me to provide more comprehensive care that is often different and more effective than what patients have received at other clinics. Since my practice beliefs are different from what insurance companies often prefer, I have opted to be an out-of-network provider. I collect payment at time of service. I will provide you with a receipt and all the information you will need to submit claims yourselves. Under the “forms” tab is an “understanding insurance worksheet” that can help you ask the appropriate questions of your insurance company so you can have an idea of what you may be reimbursed.
What are the costs? Initial visits cost $175, and follow-up visits cost $125. If you are referred for a one time consultation session the cost is $225.
Do I need a prescription? Colorado is a “direct access” state for physical therapy. This means that you may see a physical therapist without first seeing a physician, and that a physician’s prescription is not needed in order to see a physical therapist. However, many insurance companies do require you to have a prescription in order for services to be covered and paid by your insurance carrier. If you plan on submitting your visits to your insurance company, it is recommended that you have a prescription. You can have your physician fax prescriptions to 720-389-8277. If you do not plan to submit your visits to insurance, you do not need a prescription.
